History
Class of '52
LINCOLN HIGH DALLAS ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
Lincoln High Dallas Alumni Association was originally the idea of the 1952 graduating class of Lincoln High School. In 1998, several class members discussed the possibility of establishing an alumni that would be independent of any other school or organization. Research commenced to determine if there was or ever had been an exclusive alumni organization for Lincoln High School Humanities/Communication Magnet. The research team started with records registered in the city and/or county of Dallas, TX. Finding no records filed, a search of the Secretary of State for Texas was completed. Again, no record had ever been filed. In June 2009, the Lincoln High School class of 1952 held its 57th class reunion. During this reunion, a meeting was held and the class voted to establish an independent organization: Lincoln High Dallas Alumni Association (LHDAA).
The following members of the 1952 Class were appointed as charter members for LHDAA: Gloria Johnson, Registered Agent, and Board Members Charles Taylor, Hollis Brashear, Abe Burton, and Melvin Chambers. Necessary paper work was filed with both the City and County of Dallas, the State of Texas, and the Internal Revenue. On September 21, 2012 the State of Texas and the Internal Revenue service granted LHDAA its 501 (C) 3 status. The first mass meeting was held October 20, 2012 in the Martin Luther King Library on MLK Blvd. in Dallas, TX. announcing the establishment of LHDAA. There were fourteen (14) interested former Lincoln students present. Seven of these interested former students joined LHDAA.
